The obvious problem: attackers are increasingly sophisticated and successful. They share knowledge with each other, they leverage cheap compute power to create massive “threat noise,” and they only need to be lucky once to carry out a successful data breach. And to make this problem worse, the pundits have declared defeat and suggest that prevention is futile and detection is your only hope. Lee believes they’re wrong. The only successful defense is built on prevention, albeit a next-generation approach heavily leveraging substantial amounts of data, machine learning, and automation.
